War Eagle!

After graduating high school a year early Kayla knew she wanted to attend Auburn University, but not until she spent time doing some mission work around the world. It was during that time she began having nose bleeds and other unexplainable symptoms. After many tests in Africa, Kayla made the tough decision to come back to the states. In April of 2013 Kayla was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. From the beginning her case wasn't normal, Neuroblastoma is typically found in young children under the age of 5, Kayla had just turned 18. She began a 15 month treatment protocol and had to postpone beginning her freshman year at Auburn. The process was lengthy and had it's ups and downs, but Kayla never lost sight of her goal - to become an Auburn University student. In July of this year, two weeks after Kayla's original treatment plan had ended, she was told that her cancer had grown and that the chances of curing her cancer became very low. The goal then for Kayla and her doctors became maintaing the cancer, because at this point there is no cure for Neuroblastoma. Kayla is currently living out her dream of becoming a Nurse Practitioner in Pediactric Oncology at Auburn University while going through a new treatment protocol in Atlanta. War Eagle, Kayla!
