Join us for a Happy Hour of excellent food and libations in support of meals and education for refugee children. Hosted at the cutting-edge office of DIRTT Environmental Solutions in Culver City, guests will taste appetizers inspired by traditional Darfuri foods eaten in refugee camps, learn about the impact of empowering refugees through education, and take action to plant seeds of peace in communities affected by violence.

iACT is a Los Angeles-based international organization providing humanitarian action to aid, empower, and extend hope to those affected by mass atrocities, creating a world where people are connected and equipped to act. iACT refuses to accept the status quo of humanitarian aid and services for displaced communities. We place the community at the center and look outside the box to create an alternative solution that uses environmental limitations as assets rather than obstacles. Through an interactive process with refugee beneficiaries, our programs are shaped and molded to be the most effective for each community we work with.

Join us for the first ABCs and Food for Darfur to learn more!

A leader in supporting community, DIRTT has taken up the call to action to aid, empower, and extend hope to communities with whom iACT works.

Specifically, ABCs and Food for Darfur will support Little Ripples and its daily meal program.

Little Ripples, the primary program benefiting from the fundraiser, is a refugee-led program that cultivates children’s potential through play-based learning. Refugee women are trained and employed to teach children ages 3 to 5 from their community in order to support their physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Guided by an advisory board of international experts, the Little Ripples curriculum uses the pillars of peace, helping, and sharing to provide a foundation for daily activities, includes mindfulness, and is designed to be adapted and culturally-inspired by the refugee teachers themselves. Daily meals served at the Little Ripples program are sourced and prepared by local refugee women, creating further ripples of impact. Little Ripples recently won the 2016 WISE Awards for innovation in education.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 for education and food for refugee-led programs that empower Darfur refugees living on the edge of existence to live fulfilling lives and build strong futures for the next generation of leaders.
