FUND A NEED 2016

Restoring Library Hours for the Community!

2016 Fund-a-Need

The 2016 “fund-a-need” will raise funds to address the Library’s highest priority – to provide the community with greater access to its programs, services and resources.  In recent years, the Library Foundation’s annual Author Gala event successfully raised funds to keep the Main Library open on Sundays, extend library hours at all locations and launch a technology lending service.  This year’s fund-a-need effort will help to fully restore library hours to the 2004 level (before the budget reductions of the past decade).

  • The Main Library will return to being open 62 hrs. per week and will stay open until 9:00 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays. Greater access will benefit students completing homework assignments, community members needing access to the library after work; the library’s meeting rooms will be available for use in the evenings; and the restored hours will be in alignment with the service hours of libraries in neighboring cities (Burlingame, Foster City, Belmont, Redwood City).
  • The Branch libraries will return to being open 40 hrs. per week including being open on Thursdays at the Marina Branch (currently closed on Thursdays) and being open on Fridays at the Hillsdale Branch (currently closed on Fridays).
