Food is more than food to us; it provides an opportunity to not only eradicate hunger, but also transform lives and communities. We need your financial support to secure our ability to move excess food to the places that need food the most. Some of this food is transformed by our partner, DC Campus Kitchen. Some of the food goes directly to free markets. Without our FEEDS director Sherene Harris, or our fulltime driver, Robert Vickers, more than 2,500 people a week would be negatively impacted.
Brighter Day, Community UMC, Democracy Prep, Douglas Memorial UMC, Hughes Memorial UMC, Mount Vernon UMC, and The Table Church in Columbia Heights each provide an environment of radical hospitality so that people get fed holistically through community-based meals and/or markets. Over the past year and a half, we have tripled the amount of food we are giving away without increasing our food costs just because we are a trusted food mover. And the opportunities for picking up more free food keep coming.
