Fundraising for Social Impact with Carrie Rich

About the Event: Join us this fall for a two-day course designed for entrepreneurs who are deeply committed to a cause and seek to bring others on board by raising funds. Fundraising is, above all, a form of connection and this course will provide tools, techniques, and approaches that make you more effective in your outreach.

Fundraising is essential to a social entrepreneurs’ success, regardless of nonprofit or for-profit status. We will explore why corporate donors are different from philanthropists and investors, and understand how to engage each audience appropriately. Students will develop tools individualized to their fundraising needs and unique fundraising style. More importantly, we will learn how to assess the style of a donor or investor and approach them effectively.  

Leveraging governance for fundraising purposes will be another central topic of this course. It is crucial to build a board suited to fundraise, manage a board to achieve fundraising goals, and adapt a board if performance is not met.

Through this two-day course, each student will develop:

• An understanding of their relationship with money to guide a personal
  financial plan
• An understanding of their individual fundraising style
• Tools to set realistic fundraising goals
• A fundraising strategy
• A calendar of fundraising events
• A communication plan
• A prospect list and/or donor pipeline
• Tools to pitch effectively, make the ask, and navigate rejection

About the Presenter: Carrie Rich is the CEO and Co-­founder of The Global Good Fund. Carrie is responsible for $10M raised to date for nonprofits and $2M for a for-profit retail company that she co-owns. She is currently raising a $50M fund. Carrie’s two­fold commitment to catalyzing social impact and lifting up young leaders in their careers shaped the powerful vision that led to her founding The Global Good Fund. Crediting the mentors that guided her professional journey, she is an ardent believer in sharing this gift with social leaders around the world who may not have access to similar opportunities, networks and resources.
