About this event:

This year's theme celebrates all that makes children's literature great: diversity, equity, inclusion, and empathy. We believe that quality children's books can be mirrors that reflect the world a child recognizes - to show children of all races and backgrounds characters that not only look like them, but live like them too; books can be windows into a world a child has never seen - an open window to the discovery of the wonderful variety of people, places, and things you can find all around the world; and books can be a door to unlimited opportunities.

On May 17th, be the one to open the doors of opportunity for Bay Area children. Funds raised at this event (which includes a silent auction!) will be used to support Tandem's school-to-home book-sharing program, StoryCycles, as well as our professional development training opportunities for educators, and family workshops. These programs provide communities, educators, and families with the books and resources they need to support every child to develop a lifelong love of books and learning that leads to future academic and life success.

Because all children deserve to start school ready.
Because books are just the beginning. Because you have the power to open the door to quality early learning experiences.

This event will feature 16 special guests. One award-winning children's author or illustrator will be seated at each table, so you can learn more about how children's books and quality early learning experiences have the power to change lives.

See full details for our event, including a list of our featured authors and illustrators (updated regularly!) at bit.ly/2017storybookgala.

Tickets include an open bar, three-course meal,
silent auction entry, and prizes.

Can't join us? Please consider making a donation instead.
