Join me in supporting SOIL

I love SOIL! And I truly believe SOIL is having an enormous positive impact on the lives of thousands of people in Haiti.

  • Over 93% of every dollar contributed goes directly towards SOIL's programs in Haiti (and we stretch the value of those dollars by buying locally and being frugal).
  • Our social business model for prodividing affordable, dignified sanitation solutions in impoverished urban communities is one of the largest and most promising tests of the revoluationary hypothesis that we can end the sanitation crisis that is currently one of the largest global killers of children under the age of 5.
  • SOIL is now providing sustainable household toilet services to over 3,500 people and we plan to more than double in size by December.
  • We are currently treating over 27 tons of waste every month at our compost site at minimal expense in a method that has been verified by the US CDC and that exceeds the standards set by the World Health Organization.
  • We are selling our rich, organic compost as fast as we can produce it. This compost increases harvests and supports reforestation efforts in Haiti, while also providing an important source of revenue to support waste treatment costs.
  • As we work to create a successful model that other organizations and entrepreneurs can replicate globally, we have developed strong working partnerships with a range of institutions including Stanford University, UC Berkeley, Ashoka, the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, and many others.

SOIL received an anonymous grant - 10k for 10 - that is matching all new monthly donations dollar-for-dollar, month-by-month, through January 2018. Monthly contributions - of any amount - reduce SOIL's overhead by decreasing the amount of time we need to spend asking for money and ensure a steady stream of revenue to support our most critical programs in Haiti. This is an incredible opportunity to have a small contribution to a worthy organization go a long way, and therefore I'm reaching out to you, my dear friends and family, to ask if you'll join me in supporting SOIL.
