Al Aqaba's villagers are taking brave, truly remarkable steps - seven families have moved into new homes on their own land with village-issued building permits and 16 more are building. Together, Rebuilding Alliance and Al Aqaba's Housing Association are creating the only construction loan program for Palestinian families in so-called Area C.
During this tour, Oct. 25-Nov. 19, Mayor Haj Sami and Donna Baranski-Walker will present together to tell you about the remarkable history of Al Aqaba village, their 15 years of work that lead to the 16 homes in construction, and why assuring planning rights for the Palestinian villages in so-called Area C is a tangible way to build peace.
We hope to arrange speaking events at places of worship, schools, universities, and homes and we want to raise enough money to provide affordable revolving finishing loans to the next four families building homes in Al Aqaba. We'll be asking constituents to join us in meetings with their Congressional offices. We'll close the tour by meeting with Congress and the State Department in Washington DC!
Timing is tight, but if we're to keep this issue of Palestinian planning rights before Congress, we're got to go there. This man, in his wheelchair, has won every right to speak about peace. Please welcome him by hosting a speaking event or donating to make the Rebuild to Remain speaking tour a reality!
