4word: Austin Supports Foster Village

Foster Village is an Austin-based nonprofit that supports foster families in the Central Texas area. Their mission is to come alongside children and families in the child welfare system to show them they are not alone. Their goal is to create opportunities for the community to be a village of support for these vulnerable and underserved children and families. Foster Village provides critical resources for children such as clothing, beds, car seats and developmentally appropriate tools, as well as support groups, classes and resources for foster parents. Each program is led by experienced, trauma-informed foster parents and professionals.

At the Foster Village Oak Haven facility in Dripping Springs, a warm and inviting environment is present for children going through the often uncertain and traumatic first days of foster care. In a cozy, restored house, the children "shop" for new and gently-worn school outfits, pajamas, shoes, toys and books. Each child is given a children's Bible. While the younger children have abundant selections to choose from, the teenagers are often overlooked and only have the bare necessities available.

4word: Austin wants to send some special love to teenage girls, so we are gathering at Oak Haven on Saturday, June 30 to assemble care kits for these special young women. Our care kits will include simple jewelry, lip gloss, nail polish, hair accessories, perfume, prayer cards and Bibles. We want them to know that they are beautiful and worthy of love no matter what they are going through.

Our goal is to prepare 30 care kits! Will you help? Join us for the event, donate to purchase supplies, or both!
