Support SOIL Haiti

Help us celebrate SOIL's 10 year anniversary with a sustaining monthly contribution

Dear Friends,

As you may know, I am a board member for a small non-profit organization called SOIL that works in Haiti to build sustainable sanitation solutions, or in other words, gives people a dignified way to go to the bathroom!

I love volunteering for SOIL because I believe in what they do and I know that they operate with integrity and heart. SOIL recently received a grant (10k for 10) to incentivize monthly giving: all new monthly donations to SOIL will be matched dollar-for-dollar, month-by-month until January 2018. As this is such a wonderful opportunity to have a small donation go a long way, I personally signed up to donate monthly. And today I’m writing to ask if you’ll join me by pledging $10, $25, or even $50 per month. I believe this is a rare chance for a small donation to have a large direct impact, and I thought you would enjoy hearing about it.

Here are a few of the reasons that I love SOIL and think they deserve your support:

  • SOIL’s ecological sanitation solutions elegantly solve two of Haiti’s most pressing challenges: by converting toilet waste into agricultural grade compost, SOIL is helping to provide critical access to sanitation while simultaneously supporting reforestation and agricultural growth in Haiti.
  • SOIL is dedicated to innovation. All their programs are designed with sustainable income streams in mind and they strive to create livelihood opportunities in Haiti.
  • SOIL’s work has been recognized in The New York Times, the BBC, and the Guardian, to name just a few, and they’ve won many prestigious awards including the Schwab Social Entrepreneur of the Year award.
  • SOIL is committed to using donations wisely. They have no US office and they purchase supplies locally in Haiti. Over 93% of donations go directly to programs.

I could go on and on, but I think you’re starting to get the picture! All in all, I truly don’t like asking for money and if the timing isn’t right for you I promise I won’t take it personally. But if you were looking for a worthy cause and a way to have a small contribution go a long way, this is it. Thank you for considering joining me in this small but meaningful effort to improve lives in Haiti.

With love,

Dave
