Joy in All Things!

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12

The Bible is full of scriptures encouraging us to rejoice in the Lord always (Phil 4:4) to find inexpressible and glorious joy through loving Jesus (1 Pet 1:8-9), to rejoice in following  God’s statutes (Psalm 119:14), to find joy in giving (Prov 15:23), to find our strength in the joy of the Lord (Neh 8:10) and to “eat your food with gladness and drink your wine with a joyful heart.” (Eccl 9:7). In our heads, we know we should experience joy in every day because of the promise of everlasting life through Christ. But what happens when our hearts don’t agree? How can we find joy amid sorrow? How can we sing praises to God when our trials seem to drag on forever?  Where is the joy in a lost job, infertility or a cancer diagnosis?

We will gather for a roundtable discussion about the true meaning of joy and how we can cultivate joy in all circumstances.
