Brighten Lives 2016

Together, we can deliver

You can end senior hunger.

The success of the Brighten Lives Luncheon depends on you! When you decide to attend Brighten Lives and invite your friends, you are not only raising funds to support seniors in your community, you are raising awareness of the growing need for Meals on Wheels, Community Dining sites, and senior nutrition education in Mason and Thurston county.

1 in 6 seniors struggles with hunger in our community.

We know that over 8,000 seniors in our community are affected by senior hunger. Currently, we only have funds available to serve approximately 2,500 seniors each year. We will serve over 110,000 meals this year in our community, but the need remains much greater. That is why we need your investments in this critical life-giving program.

You can deliver more than a meal.

The meals provided by Meals on Wheels and Senior Community Dining sites are more than a meal.  Yes, they provide 1/3 of the daily nutrition needed for a senior, they also improve the health of seniors, enable seniors to remain in their home longer, and prevent social isolation.

None of our Community Dining sites can offer meals every day, due to lack of funding. That means many of the seniors we are able to reach are still not getting a nutritous meal everyday.

You can make a difference in the life of a hungry senior.

Your leadership will help provide meals to seniors in Belfair, Shelton, Olympia, Lacey, Yelm, Tenino Rochester, and other Mason and Thurston county communities. Please join us by attending Brighten Lives and inviting your friends to join  you at Brighten Lives to learn more about senior hunger in our community.

If you are unable to attend the luncheon but still want to help end senior hunger you can make at donation online here. You can make a one-time donation or a monthly donation to support Meals on Wheels and Senior Community Dining in Mason and Thurston counties.
