Keep It Surreal 2017 #GivingTuesday

Support Seattle's most delicious arts organization

Friends and Patrons of Nordo,

We are beside ourselves with excitement to announce “Keep It Surreal.” This fundraising experience launches today, “Giving Tuesday,” and culminates with an intimate surreal dinner and Raise the Paddle like only the team at Nordo can create. You can give today, our first $1,000 by board member and Microsoft employee Mike Taylor. (That makes it a 1:3 match, so your $100 turns into $300 for Nordo!), or you can purchase tickets to the January Keep It Surreal Soiree where the creative minds behind Café Nordo’s productions will create a world to elicit wonder and evoke magic and inspire the raising of many a paddle, of course.

Wonder, magic, and human connection are the cornerstone of what we do at Café Nordo. Your generous support is, quite simply, what makes it possible. You’ve all heard before that an arts organization cannot thrive or even survive on ticket sales alone, and as Seattle becomes harder and harder for artists to afford, Nordo is no exception.

However, only in Seattle, a city built on ingenuity, scrappiness, innovation, could a theater company like Nordo rise. We ask you to sit with strangers, to eat what we tell you, and essentially to have no idea what you’re walking into before you arrive.

You see the blood, sweat, and tears. You see refined and psychedelic food served to sixty guests, timed down to the minute with the ever-changing nature of a theater production. You’ve witnessed the Culinarium’s transformation every time you walk through our doors.

Because of your bravery, we have continued to be brave. We’ve trusted you to come with us as we push the boundaries of what we can do.  We’ve incubated new works from rising stars like Sara Porkalob and Eddie DeHais. We’ve provided a home for top Seattle talents like Ray Tagavilla and Richard Sloniker. The Nordo company has challenged itself over and over again; re-imagining this convergence of story, immersion, and dining that makes us absolutely unique to Seattle.

You have allowed us to take risks.  You have celebrated our successes.  And you have encouraged us to grow from our shortcomings. Please help us keep thinking outside the box by contributing this Giving Tuesday, or better yet, get your tickets and celebrate as we Keep It Surreal this January.

All our Best,

Erin, Terry, Opal, Annastasia, Evan, Kelly, The Nordo Board of Directors, and the team
