Day Camp - Serving youth who need us most

Day Camps are serving children of our local Healthcare Workers, First Responders, and essential workers, who are doing so much for our communities right now.

What are we doing to serve kids and families? We are giving those on the front line of service peace of mind knowing that their kids are safely cared for. We have opened Day Camp sites in Tacoma and Belfair to serve exclusively the children of first responders and medical providers. In Tacoma we are operating at our Al Davies Branch in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools and many other community organizations. Our Belfair site is operating in partnership with the North Mason School District at our North Mason Teen Center.

The Day Camps will be provided at no charge! 40 youth grades K-5th will be served at each location. The hours are 6:30 AM- 7:30PM, Monday through Friday, with meals and snacks provided each day.  Kid to staff ratios are intentionally low (8:1) to ensure safe social distancing in programs. Our healthcare partners provided medical protocols for the nurses on-site to follow, which includes screening each child and staff member when they arrive each day.

This program is a critical part of our community response to beating COVID-19. Due to this program’s heightened safety standards, the weekly cost for providing up to 65 hours of care for one child is $450.

Thank you for generously standing with us as we stand up to support our first responders and medical providers’ needs. We would be so grateful if you would join us, as we answer this important call to service from our community. Every gift matters.
